Falling in love with photography while in art school in the 1970’s, Judy Bales was attracted to the directness and spontaneity of photography. She yearned for a small camera that she could always carry, responding to visual stimuli in the moment. Many decades later, this yearning was fulfilled by smart phones. And photo editing apps gave her something between a darkroom and a box of paints. Photography became a way to both record a scene and create it. This volume includes photos taken by Bales since 2020 and emphasize composition, shape and drama through both geometric and organic forms.
