The Five Little Joneses tells the story of five siblings who grew up in Attica, Indiana, during the first half of the 1900s. Born to John Jacob Jones Sr. and Erma Ruth McCord Jones, they came of age in a close-knit family shaped by love, hardship, humor, and faith.

Spanning two world wars, we follow the children into adulthood as life carries them across the United States, and, in time, back home again to Indiana. This richly illustrated volume also traces the family’s deep colonial roots and their westward journey to the Hoosier frontier.

Deborah Catherine (Marvel) Wesley is the granddaughter of John Jacob Jones Sr. and Erma Ruth (McCord) Jones. A passionate family historian, she is fascinated by the contrasts within her ancestry. While she has deep colonial roots and is a proud eighth-generation Hoosier, she is also the great-granddaughter of German immigrants. A loving wife, devoted mother of three, and delighted Nana, Deborah continues to live in her childhood home in Carmel, Indiana. Bitten by the genealogy bug in 1980 while filling out a family tree in her Bible, Deborah has spent more than four decades uncovering the stories behind the names. Drawing on a career in information technology, she combines traditional research with modern digital tools to preserve and share family history through her HoosierRoots brand. Through books, videos, trading cards, and other creative projects, she works to ensure that the memories and experiences of past generations are not forgotten.
