About the Book
As a young boy, Harry Gips survived one of history's darkest chapters by relying on courage, determination, and hope. After escaping the Nazi ghetto with his siblings, he spent at least eighteen months alone in the forests of Poland, hiding from German soldiers, sleeping in a hole in the ground, and struggling each day to find enough food to stay alive. Along the way, he lost his parents and most of his family to the Holocaust.
For decades, Harry rarely spoke about his experiences. Only later in life did he begin to share the remarkable story of how he survived as a hidden child, rebuilt his life in America, and created a loving family after unimaginable loss.
Harry Gips is a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit and a reminder that even in the face of extraordinary darkness, hope can endure. His story ensures that future generations will never forget the lives forever changed by the Holocaust.
