About the Book
This book is a collection of 24 essays for people whose lives are shaped by creative practice: painters, musicians, writers, filmmakers, photographers, and anyone for whom the question of how to keep working is a real one. The essays take up attention, ritual, completeness, going back to abandoned projects, the conditions under which good work tends to happen, and the conditions under which it doesn't. Each closes with a question for the reader. Full-page, original artwork runs throughout.
