About the Book
This story begins with one such man—Matig Kevorkoff.
Many know him simply as the benefactor whose generosity made the Kevorkoff School possible. Yet his legacy reaches far beyond the bricks and mortar of a single building. He understood that the future of a community would not be secured by wealth alone, but by education, identity, and opportunity. His vision was not to construct a school; it was to build a future.
Within those classrooms, generations of Armenian children learned far more than reading and writing. They learned their language, their faith, their history, and the values that had sustained the Armenian people for centuries. The school became the heart of the Ethiopian Armenian community—a place where identity was preserved, friendships were formed, and future generations were prepared to carry their heritage wherever life would take them.
