About the Book
Dorothea is a photographic exploration of identity, vulnerability, freedom, and the invisible boundaries we carry within ourselves.
Created through a close collaboration between photographer Lesley Solama and Dorothea, the book moves beyond the visible image to explore what lies beneath it: the roles we inherit, the walls we build, the ties we struggle to release, and the parts of ourselves we often keep hidden.
Each image begins with a deliberate concept, yet leaves room for the unexpected moment when intention and presence become one. Across ten visual chapters, the work moves through uncertainty, confinement, pain, surrender, and finally toward a quieter form of freedom.
This is not a story told in a straight line. It is an invitation to look beyond what is immediately visible and to recognise something of our own inner landscape within it.
