About the Book
Frank Rampolla: Drawings from the Personal Sketchbooks offers an intimate look at the private working drawings of artist Frank Rampolla (1931–1971). Drawn from sketchbooks preserved by his family, these pages range from quick observations and unfinished ideas to fully realized and signed works, revealing the restless exploration behind Rampolla’s paintings, prints, and sculpture.
Compiled and edited by his son, Renato “Ron” Rampolla, this revised edition brings together drawings rarely seen outside the family archive, along with recollections and critical commentary from artists, students, colleagues, and critics who knew Rampolla and his work. The result is both a record of an artist at work and a more personal view of the man behind a distinctive and uncompromising body of art.
