About the Book
Although this book is for sale, I do consider it a very personal book. It's a collection of my African wildlife photographs that I like best. Over the years, I have photographed wildlife in countries like Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa and Namibia, and this book contains just a small selection of my favourite photographs of all those trips. The book should also illustrate my approach of wildlife photography. I like my photographs to show not just an animal, but something special. Like the interaction between mother and child, or the social behaviour within a group of animals, or animals in a special or a funny situation. Another favourite form of photography is to get very close, and make an almost abstract photo.
Johan W. Elzenga is a freelance photographer, writer and editor of a Dutch photography magazine. Although his photography covers a broad spectrum of subjects, Johan's preferred subjects are wildlife, landscapes and travel. Over the years he has travelled to Africa some 35 times and visited Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia and the islands of the Seychelles, Reunion and Mauritius. His Africa stock contains more than 50,000 photographs of animals, landscapes and people. Johan currently lives with his wife Ine in the Netherlands, but he hopes to spend more time in Africa in the future.
