About the Book
East London is an area rich in history of drama and conflict.
This collection of contemporary landscape art photography explores and reveals that history of struggle. Angela Stapleford photographed the locations of intense historic events. In the not so distant past these places were witness to the struggles of Suffragettes, low paid dock workers, teenage match girls and communities opposing fascism.
The resulting images are landscapes in which perhaps we can picture the events taking place and remember the struggles of the participants.
