      About the Book

      Edit

Undergraduate liberal arts students studying abroad at the Centre for Medieval & Renaissance Studies, Oxford experience the museums of Oxford first-hand. The only prerequisite for the course was an interest in art and museums and a willingness to try new things. Students learned to draw on site, had the unique opportunity to meet with museum curators, and go behind-the-scenes in special collections to draw from works of art by Michelangelo, Raphael, Rembrandt, J.M.W.Turner, John Ruskin, and Mark Catesby among many others. For their final project, each student selected a group of objects from several Oxford museums to draw in order to create a ‘special exhibition on paper’ of their own design. This book documents the work they did with a selection of works from their independent projects.
