About the Book
New York is the city that never sleeps, but if you want to have it all to yourself, and capture photographs of an empty city, you have to wake up early.
A venture into New York during its early morning hours -- especially on a Sunday -- offers three important elements not available at other times: golden light, empty sidewalks, and, most rare, abundant street parking.
You can see this side of the city yourself -- if you are willing to get up before 5am on weekend mornings.
Otherwise, this photo journal will show you how one photographer captured the city during the period that straddles both blue hour and golden hour, using a Nikon D700, a handful of lenses, lots of coffee, some afternoon naps, and hours on the computer.
Most of the images in this book were first published on the author's blog, but it also features a new half-dozen that are being seen here for the first time.

About the Creator
Mark Garbowski is a husband, father, attorney, and photographer. Self-taught in photography and formally educated in the law, his work in the one pays for his labor of love in the other. This self-portrait was a bit of a lark. He is not nearly as hard-edged or cool as it would suggest. In truth, he practices insurance coverage law on behalf of corporate clients that have disputes with the insurance industry, and lives a quiet life in Queens with three beautiful ladies (his wife and two daughters). In addition to the skylines, cityscapes and streetcapes featured within, he also practices candid street photography.
