MICHAL DANIEL grand cayman
Dedicated to B. J. and John French.
In '03 and '06, my Gal Keri Pickett and I had the luck and pleasure of enjoying the end of the year holidays with Keri's mom B. J. and her husband John, at Plantation Village on Grand Cayman, in the Cayman Islands.
Collected here -- with an Eyemodule2 PDA camera -- are the moments that passed by while we enjoyed the boundless hospitality of our hosts, surrounded by the legendary beauty of this stunningly gorgeous island.

Back flap:
[Picture of the eyemod]
The Eyemodule2 -- or "eyemod" as I call it and its output -- is small, silent, and doesn't resemble a camera. It's just a bump on my PDA. While using it, I behave as if completely absorbed with digital organizing instead of photography. "Don't mind me, just organizing here," is what I exude in the process of picture making.
I love the digital Brownie "personality" -- unique color palette, tight dynamic range, near pinhole depth of field, and softness of the cheap lens -- of this now obsolete camera from 2001 whose highest resolution -- 640x480 pixels – is today the lowest resolution on the market. When enlarged to wall size, the eyemod prints start to resemble watercolor paintings.
But all that is secondary. Most importantly, the tool helps me achieve my primary goal: making images while unnoticed, and leaving the recorded moments to continue, undisturbed.

In case you wondered, I take home $20 for each book sold, Blurb gets the rest. Thanks!

About the Creator
Michal Daniel
Prague, Czech Republic
Born in Prague, then Czechoslovakia. Left for the US in 1969. Served in the USAF and became photographer after seeing my first 4×5 neg come up in the developer, under a green safelight: military boot stepping on a flower. Corny, I know, but hey, I was instantly in love, forever. Ran my own custom b&w lab in Minneapolis for two decades, taught fine b&w printing, was the first and then exclusive US importer of FOMA film and paper products from the Czech Republic. Always made street photos for myself, and live entertainment images for a living, now back home in Prague. More in this TV segment about me: http://www.mnoriginal.org/art/?p=3157
