Throughout Stephen Strom’s photographic career there have been constant threads, ideas that have sustained his work through many varied projects, and bind 34 years of photography into a cohesive body. Among these is his attitude toward experimentation which is evident in Strom’s willingness to try out various print and capture media; his openness to collaboration and application of his photography to diverse projects; and his recent exploration of new ways to present his vision through publication in print and electronic media. From a more formal perspective, the work exhibits variations on a theme, where Strom is able to marshal color, composition, scale and frame to create works where minimalism, abstraction, and pattern combine in harmonic arrangements.
