About the Book
For the vast majority of us who do not call New York City home, many of our perceptions of this great metropolis are formed through what we see in motion pictures, hear in music, view on television or read in books. Not everything seen, heard, viewed or read through the popular media, however, necessarily reflects the day-to-day reality of a place or its true personality. I have long wanted to capture my own vision of the New York City personality and share my interpretation of what I saw through my lenses in an artistic, impressionistic way. That is what this book is all about.
Thomas Parry holds advanced university degrees in languages and linguistics and is retired from a successful career as a linguist, college professor, researcher, writer, higher education administrator and management consultant in academia, government and private industry for more than forty years. He has traveled extensively throughout the world in the course of his long career. Since retiring, Thomas has become a nature and fine art photographer, freelance magazine writer, digital artist and children’s book author. His photographic work has won numerous awards and he has published more than one hundred of his photographs in magazines, books, journals and blogs and is a regular contributor to Nature Photographer Magazine. He has exhibited his work in juried shows in Vermont, U.S.A. and in London, England, U.K. He resides with his family in Boise, Idaho, U.S.A.
