IN 1997, GROW (Gardeners Reclaiming Our Waysides) was formed to landscape the freeway that was to be built through Carson City, NV. In 1997, the Nevada Department of Transportation, did not landscape freeways. After public opinion changed the policy of NDOT and GROW secured the money to landscape Phase I of the Freeway, designs were done and not only were native or naturalized plants added to the gateways and interchanges but Public Art with the theme of "Carson City's History in Motion" was installed. This book includes copies of the interpretive signs installed by GROW explaining the historical event as well as sample pictures of the Public Art to be seen. We hope you enjoy the book and will be inspired to look further into the history of Carson City, NV. and other western towns.
