Volunteer organizers of the award-winning Spenard Farmers Market in Anchorage, Alaska saw a need for a place to buy Alaska Grown, caught and made, food as well as arts and crafts. The Market celebrates community and culture by providing a public gathering place that builds community pride and spirit by bringing together a cross-section of vendors, entertainers, farmers, artisans, local businesses and market goers. Each Saturday May through September the community of Spenard enjoys shared experiences in an open-air Market setting with many market goers bringing their pets. Volunteer and artist, Cindy Shake recorded just some of these people and their “Market Dogs.” All net proceeds from the sale of this book benefit the Spenard Farmers Market.
