About the Book
50/50: Fifty Images, Fifty Stories is a collection of portraits photographed by Lisa Wright, accompanied by the words of fifty extraordinary women. Lisa encountered these ladies during a photography project that took place on December 7, 2013, in Las Vegas, NV. Funded in part by the Nevada Arts Council, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, photographer, Lisa Wright set out to reveal beauty - not on an external, media manufactured level, but on a human level. Participants were wooed with the question, “Everyone has a story to tell, what’s yours?” The purpose was to share a collection of portraits that feature diverse women with relatable stories that serve as both art and inspiration by disclosing what beauty really is. Each woman who participated was gracious enough to not only allow Lisa to capture her image, but also shared a bit of her life journey in the form of an intimate story, anecdote, or lesson learned revealing who she is today, and the path it took to arrive.
