About the Book
Architect Craig Ellwood, widely recognized for his role in Arts and Architecture's Case Study House program, as well as his modernist private residences and commercial buildings, built one project in San Diego County. The story behind Ellwood's Bobertz House (1953-55) is an example of the power of the magazine, the allure Ellwood created early in his career, and one couple's determined efforts to live out their progressive post-War dreams. The house would fall into disrepair and anonymity in a neighborhood not widely known for its architectural inventory before author Keith York purchased the home and began a multi-year restorative effort to reclaim it.
