About the Book
I hope to rekindle that sense of surprise and disbelief. To use technology to create images that have never been seen.
First Sight avoids the expected vocabulary of high-speed water drop photography. The images are devoid of any familiar clues of origin, leaving you entirely on your own to interpret what you view. Scale, material, and time frame are not obvious. What you see is a blend of reality and your imagination.
Scott Lerman uses scientific or technology-intense imaging methods to create fine art photographs. Whether it is the remapping of three-dimensional landscapes into two-dimensional images or capturing events that last only milleseconds, Lerman strives to reveal the strange and provocative beauty that is hidden all around us. His photographs have been exhibited by The Center for Fine Art Photography, CO; PhotoPlace Gallery, VT; Griffin Museum of Photography, MA; Kadoya Gallery, MO; Photo Independent, CA; The Big Picture, CO; and Duncan Miller Gallery’s Your Daily Photograph.
