About the Book
An account of my father's time as a surgeon in the Army in Japan in 1944 - 1946. It includes the photos he took, excerpts from the letters he wrote to my mother and me. He spent five months on Tinian island, where the Enola Gay flew practice missions before dropping the atom bombs. He spent the rest of his time in Fukuoka at a hospital was set up. His frustration at not having enough to do is evident. My brother was born a few months after he arrived in Japan and was a year old when he returned home.
