About the Creator
Dr. George B. Thomas, Sr., has been a distinguished professional educator for almost sixty years. He is President and Founder of The George B. Thomas, Sr. Learning Academy, Inc., a non-profit tutoring and mentoring program that enhances the academic achievement and boosts the self-confidence of Montgomery County (MD) students in Grades 1 through 12. Dr. Thomas, who grew up in a family of sharecroppers in Greenwood Country, South Carolina, earned a B. S. degree from South Carolina State University; a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from American University; and a Doctorate Degree in Curriculum and Educational Administration from George Washington University. A former classroom teacher, curriculum specialist, and school administrator, he also served as President of Voorhees College. Dr. Thomas was named Washingtonian of the Year in 2008.
