About the Book
A preternatural gift for observation makes Huguette Despault May’s artwork leap from the page. The meticulous renderings in the “Hawser” Rope series featured in this volume and the forthcoming Paper Nest Drawings share the same sense of magic that arises when nature and artist unite with wonder and respect for each other. A spell is cast on the fortunate viewer of the union whether it be in a gallery, museum, private collection or between the covers of a book.

About the Creator
Huguette Despault May
Avon, Massachusetts, USA
Huguette was born in Ottawa, Canada but grew up and has lived mostly in the United States. In the last ten years she has focused on working in charcoal on paper occasionally adding color with pastels. After finishing her rope series, she decided nature would become her permanent inspiration and began working on the Paper Nests. When she's not in the field photographing future subjects, Huguette is most often found in her studio in New Bedford, Massachusetts housed in a former textile mill that is now called Hatch Street Studios. Huguette has a BFA and an MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts / Tufts University, Boston. She also studied at the Schuler School of Fine Arts classical atelier in Baltimore.
