      About the Book

      Edit

Last Stop documents people suffering from dementia. He started the project exploring this disease and it’s stifling effects in societ. Stephen felt this disease had become drastically worsened and is researching to raise questions about how and why certain diseases are more prominent in our era and how society acts within their constraints. A personal documentary following the lives of two people. A man called Fred who was moved into a care home and a woman called Margaret. Fred has been committed due to his worsening state and Margaret was looked after by her son and palliative care nurses. It is a touching story that worsened sadly when Margaret’s son died in a tragic accident. Now the book has an eerie synchronicity surrounding this event. Steve fell down the stairs suffering a blood clot to his brain which was misdiagnosed as alcoholism. The sudden changed context since their passing speaks eerily through premonition around this change of context and the photographs symbolism

The photographs are brought to life using traditional Haiku poetry. The author suffered online harassment and abuse by people and he cannot get any help. The last stop a true story of betrayal within society. It works together with 2 other titles The gift, and Omens of murder.

Art is a wound turned into light your creation destroyed by an innocent target you’ve become what you set out to destroy keep lying to yourself. Stephen Shaw (born 1976, year of punk) was raised on Grangepark, Blackpool in the North West of England. He is an MA photographer at Central Lancaster University, and has a BA first class honours in photography. Shaw is frequently published and specialises in symbolism, Social Documentary and Portraiture, working within street / documentary, his fine art prints are sought after by collectors. Shaw's images are motivated by pain and memorialism. He has great empathy with a desire to research failed human constructs having lived a darker side of life that he frequently questions and talks about with truth and a deep understanding of the people that inhabit its fabric, hoping to help them. This is his driving force to evolve knowledge through the photographic medium, bringing subjects he cares about to the attention of a wider audience . 'Shaw'
