    About the Book

    Edit

This full-color photography book is a compilation of nature photos by Eureka artist Peg Toliver. Toliver was chosen as featured artist for the art150 exhibit at the Sesquicentennial Celebration for the City of Eureka, IL in 2009 and compiled the book as a way to celebrate the local environment. Her book highlights local natural history and the town history of Eureka, Illinois, and includes memoir excerpts from 19th century and 20th century residents of the area as well as the author's own reflections. Chapters feature full color photos featuring sky, water, fields, prairie, woodlands, the creatures that inhabit these areas, and the plants that grow locally in wild places, on farms, and in public and private gardens and memorial sites. Beautiful vistas are presented mixed with brief reflections by the artist about her relationship to nature. 120 pages.

    Eureka, IL USA

Peg Toliver has had a checkered career, holding jobs as a bakery clerk, bus girl, secretary, college professor, art gallery store manager, art collection curator, layout editor, tourism coordinator, graphic designer, counselor, art therapist, yoga instructor and tightrope walker (just kidding on the last one!). Despite the diversity of roles, she steadily pursued her interest in personal growth through the disciplines of yoga, journaling and visual art. Her art and design business, Natural Imprints, aims at connecting people, art and nature. She currently teaches yoga at Healthy Arts Physical Therapy and Eureka Community Hospital and exhibits her artwork at area galleries and fine art fairs. She lives with her husband and daughter across from Lake Eureka, a frequent subject of her nature photographs.
