      About the Book

      Edit

One of the series The Books of Miko, this photobook interrogates the issues of the archive, visual anthropology, photography, visual culture, 35-mm slides, transparencies, and the museum. It is a photobook made from the 1200, 35-mm color and black and white slides that were discarded by the final curator of the Treganza Museum of Anthropology. As active material culture in the dynamic archive of artifacts, images, recordings, and other objects, the slides in this photobook speak to us and they speak to each other. They are the voices of the subjects captured, of the photographers who made the images, the professors who taught with them, the students who saw them projected, the staff who labelled and catalogued them, the curator who wanted to "disappear" them, you who will view this book, and the visual archaeologist who assembled, scanned, and offered each slide its continuous moments to speak. Note: slides are released in their animate condition without cleaning, color manipulation, or correction.
