About the Book
Punctum: the detail which attracts the viewer to the painting/ print/ photograph/ book/ etc: after noticing it, the object is transformed, seen with new eyes. If unnoticed, confusion ensues.
Amanda created this book as her final project for a photography-based study abroad trip during the winter of 2017. She wanted to create a book that would be aesthetically pleasing photography-wise, but would also provide the viewers with a different way of physically handling the book. Because the layout necessitates that the reader be able to quickly flip back and forth between the pages, the online preview does not give the same effect as the physical object does.
Reviews of Punctum:
"This book was an event. It makes you work. I want to go back and look at every picture again now."
"My favorite thing is watching the punctum happen to other people."
"This is great because it makes you go through it twice with a different perspective."
