About the Book
Roan Callahan and Mackey Howe make photographs together under the pseudonym MOAN. This is a collection of our first works together, accompanied by relevant poetic influences.
Subjects such as death, darkness, and primal human drives do not invoke anything negative unless you then choose to act negatively. Our work teeters on a precipice between fear and beauty, darkness and light, because we want to show that the difference is a matter of perception. When fears of the unknown and darkness are openly embraced, our images become conduits that transform those actions into positive mystical energy.
