About the Book
Why do we walk and where do we walk in today's society. Some of us are walking because we have to, while others walk because they want to. Walking is the topic of the art project "100 meters" (2017-2018) by the Norwegian artist Brynhild Bye-Tiller. On many levels. The artistic intention is to discuss the area between public participation, participatory methodologies and documentary work. The project consist of three main parts. The first part is videos made of participants (from 6 to 16 years old) in the county of Nord Trøndelag, Norway. The participants were given the task of filming themselves while they walked the best short distance (Apr. 100 meters, hence the title) they knew explaining why. The videos was collected in an online archive. The second part consists of twelve photographic portraits of a selection of participants and the last part is a research by the artist.
