As Shakespeare’s Othello unfolds, Desdemona adds her insights and perspective. Othello, the foreigner, presents the original Shakespearean dialogue. Iago, acting as the “interpreter” of Othello’s “broken English,” switches from the original Elizabethan English when speaking with Othello to cotemporary English when speaking with Venetians. All of the other characters' dialogue has been converted to contemporary English.
