About the Book
Since college, my favorite poem has been “Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird” by Wallace Stevens. Its spare form and holographic approach inspired the XIII sets of Red Leaf Haiku in this book: in 2018, having written thousands of discrete haiku, I decided to capture my own blackbirds, each from at least thirteen angles. All the haiku herein were drawn from, or appear in, Red Leaf Haiku Vol. IX or Red Leaf Haiku Vol. X.
