Enjoy creating them and sharing with your family and friends!
Debra Stormon-Oliphant was born in Devils Lake North Dakota during a severe thunderstorm in July. She was the fourth generation to live on the farm homesteaded by her great-grandparents in 1880, nine years before North Dakota was to become a state. Lars & Olava emigrated from Norway and settled on the shores of Sweetwater Lake. The Norwegian baking tradition was an everyday occurrence in the Stormon household. They made their own bread, lefse, cookies and cakes daily. Debra grew up baking with her mother and grandmother, most often using ingredients they had grown themselves. It is a way of life. Debra has flipped & stacked lefse since before she can remember. Baking and farming are in her blood. Debra’s very proud of her family, her pioneer heritage and the Norwegian Culture. She hopes that this book will shine a light on the community into which she was born. She wants to celebrate the great American wheat farming families who in no small way feed the world.
