      John Cumberland was a star pitcher his senior year at Westbrook High School in the small paper mill town of Westbrook, Maine. Following a very successful summer of Legion ball where his team won the state title, he eventually signed a baseball contract in February of 1966 with the Cardinals and within a few years was playing at the major league level. Follow him thru spring training, years of playing at the highest level, personal stories of playing with some greats, read as his discusses the developmental side of playing and coaching, and read as he describes his emphasis on the mental aspect of the game of baseball and life.
