    About the Book

    Edit

After record-breaking flooding in the English Lake District in December 2015, photographer Chris Routledge set out to document the effects on a short section of the River Rothay at Rydal, the former home of poet William Wordsworth. Rather than concentrating on the wider landscape, his often highly-detailed work records changes "at the edge of what we see". This magazine-style book accompanied his solo exhibition at the well-known Heaton Cooper Studio Archive Gallery in Grasmere in 2019. A limited (fifty only) signed hardback edition of this book is available from his website.

I am a photographer and writer based in Northwest England with an interest in looking at familiar landscapes in a different way. My commercial photography has appeared on book covers, and in books and magazines, and I also photograph events. I have exhibited at galleries including the Portico Library in Manchester, Dot-Art in Liverpool, and most recently with a solo show "Indeterminate Land" at the Heaton Cooper Studio Archive Gallery in Autumn 2019. I won the 2019 Michael Marks Award for illustration for my collaboration with with poet Rebecca Goss on a series of poems and images published as Carousel, by Guillemot Press (2018). My photography website is at https://chrisroutledge.pictures
