About the Book
This book presents some of my favorite plein air paintings. All of them were started on site and a few were completed on site. It is more common to spent some time in the studio after the event in order to re-establish values and do the final edits. I also sometimes add or subtract elements for the sake of design.
I mainly paint in oil, however I sometimes use gouache, ink and watercolor. I believe oil is the ideal medium for plein air painting. It is slow drying which allows a more leisurely approach, and it allows the use of thick paint for texture.
Painting has become my passion since retirement and the learning is my journey.
