About the Book
I am a female, queer, self-taught photographer based in the Midwest and aim to make honest, vulnerable portraits that are defiant and inviting simultaneously. I take an empathetic approach in my work to create a safe space for my subjects to go to their deepest places of self-expression, resulting in a celebration of the human form, color, and our connection to nature. I am thoroughly obsessed with memories and how they effect us in visual form, exploring themes of memory, identity, and freedom. I'm interested in the transformative nature of image making- in the ways that it can change our perception and shape our identity. As a woman, documenting myself and other women has changed my life and I want my photographs to take others on that same journey.
