About the Creator
Old, bold and prone to misadventure, Bert Gartmann is a man determined to live a life of freedom, adventure and love. Born in Germany in 1948 and raised in the tranquil Black Forest by a shoemaker and his wife. Bert has traveled the globe and raised a family in Australia. He worked as a teacher of Industrial Arts, as a migrant integration worker and also operated a Stained Glass Studio. When it was time to contemplate retirement he bought a backpack instead, a one way plane ticket and began another adventure. At 63, in a desperate bid to retire youthfully Bert sells all his possessions and buys a backpack. This book is a tale of his search for paradise. It is a tale of love found and lost and adventures sometimes enjoyed but mostly barely escaped. A tale of wanderlust, courage and Bert's kind of paradise.
