About
Barbara Hitching co-founded and led a non-profit organization for twenty years, working with oppressed minorities and indigenous people to facilitate dignity and freedom of choice. In 2005, she trained with Peace River Center, a government mental health agency in Florida as a volunteer crisis counselor. For five years, she was on call 24/7 at three hospitals. As a first responder to rape victims, she encouraged the administration of rape kits and advocated for their rights with medical staff and police. Today, she publishes weekly articles on her blog, Transformative, and interacts with her social media followers to share hope. Certified as a Trauma Healing Facilitator with the Trauma Healing Institute, she works one-on-one with survivors and facilitates group sessions.
