The author, Dr. Patricia McCabe is an Art Historian and Artist based in Dublin, Ireland.
Dr. McCabe studied History of Art and Archaeology in University College Dublin. She was awarded the Purser Griffith travelling scholarship (1978), the Francoise Henry Memorial Prize (1989) and the Donal Byrne Memorial Prize (1990). In 2004 she attained a Doctorate of Philosophy from the National University of Ireland based on her dissertation, Accoutrements, Carriage, Portraits and Memorials of Lords Chancellor of Ireland, 1660-1860, extracts of which have been published in Irish Architecture and Decorative Studies Vol. 5, 2002 and Dublin Historical Record, Vol. LX1V, No.2, 2011; the dissertation has also been the basis of a number of lectures. Dr. McCabe has lectured on the history of art at the National Gallery of Ireland and in adult education centres.
