George was born and raised in Shelbyville, Indiana. His family were among the early pioneers of Shelby County having moved there from Kentucky in 1822. He is married to Cathy Reeves and they have 2 children, Derek and Leslie. George graduated from Shelbyville HS in 1968 and graduated from IU with Econ and MBA degrees. History has become one of his main hobbies.
