Simone Donati (Italy, 1977) completed the three-year course in photography at the Studio Marangoni in Florence in 2005. After an internship at Magnum Photos in New York, in 2006 he started working in the field of documentary photography. During the past years his attention has focused on the political and social situation of Italy. Simone was selected as one of the three finalists in the portrait category of the 2008 Sony World Photography Awards and received the 3rd place at the 2010 Ponchielli prize with “Welcome to Berlusconistan”. With "Valley of Angels" was a finalist at the 2011 OjodePez Award. His photographs have been part of solo and group shows in Italy and abroad and have been published in the main italian and international magazines, among which Der Spiegel, Geo Italy, IL, Internazionale, L’Espresso, Le Monde Magazine, Monocle, Newsweek, Newsweek Japan, Sette and Vanity Fair Italy.
Simone is based in Florence.
