Ed Lucas's interest in photography was nurtured at an early age by an uncle who was an award winning amateur photographer.

The major influence later in his life has been Freeman Patterson, with whom he's studied, recognized by many critics as Canada's finest photographer.

Lucas has exhibited and sold his work at numerous art shows, festivals and galleries over the past several decades.

In choosing scenes and elements from the natural world, he encourages the viewer to escape for a moment to another emotional plane, one of peace and meditation.

Renato Cremona, noted critic, art show judge and patron of the arts in Ohio, Florida and his native Austria, has evaluated Lucas' work thusly -- "Ed Lucas does not photograph subjects. His camera is merely an extension of his eye, soul and imagination."
