JORGE BLANCO


About

Artist Jorge Blanco is a renown sculptor, illustrator and graphic designer, born in Caracas, Venezuela. In 1999 he made the United States his home, becoming an American citizen in 2005. Jorge lives and works in the West Coast of Florida. He showed his first sculpture in Caracas in 1973, since then he has exhibited in Beijing, Tokyo, Barcelona, Madrid, Rome, Milan, Chicago, Miami and New York. He has won important awards in Venezuela and in Europe. His works are in private collections worldwide.

In 1980 Jorge created his poetic, award winning caricature “The Castaway” which was printed in major magazines and newspapers for 20 years. It has been published in seven books. He served as the Art Director (1979-1998) for a science and technology center, the “Children’s Museum of Caracas”. Blanco has illustrated more than twenty books for children and adults, plus a large variety of articles, magazines and catalogs.
