Rachel Gillen is originally from Ohio, where she will return upon graduation. The reflective quality of the work correlates with Gillen’s internal reflection. The images are borne of the life experiences and memories of past, present and what is to come. They are an honest portrayal of realistic elements, complexly rendered using photoshop and abstraction. Gillen’s application of paint is careful and exacting, the canvases are mapped out and measured so that each paint color represents a specific memory.
