About

I recall a time when I gave someone a really good birthday gift. If you were to think about that memory and try to explain what made your gift a good one, what would you say? Was it something about what you gave or something about the experience? Even though we have a lot of practice in event planning like a birthday, we have a hard time explaining what makes some of them go well while others just fall flat. I think there is a natural way of breaking up the 'Event’ into three parts. The first one begins with the giver's thoughts about what to give. The second moment of the action is the activities, or object, and the thing that the giver plans. The third part of it is the effect the event has on the receiver. For example, I have a friend and her birthday is coming up. I would like to get her a gift, but I asked another friend for advice about it. She said, “It’s the thought that counts.” But, it doesn't always work. Good intentions, don't guarantee that the gift will be good.
