About the Book
One type of writing sample required of fifth graders is a personal narrative. Gra'Nola had a very interesting personal experience at Camp Unleashed, which as its moniker implies, allows dogs to interact with nature and other canines off their leashes. These two notions merged as our class planned a narrative to describe Nola’s real and imagined adventures at camp using well-developed details, structured sequence, and vivid vocabulary. Our students chose to relay the events through Nola’s eyes, first person point of view. Mrs. Rice, our stalwart editor, encouraged the class to “get inside
Nola’s head” as we told her tale.
