About the Ebook
This book is dedicated to the great greek film Director Theo Anghelopoulos, to all modern Ulysses and to all who host them. Anghelopoulos with the movie “Ulysses gaze” (original title: “To vlemma tou Odyssea”) won the Grand Prix Special Jury Prize at the 48th Cannes Film Festival in 1995. Unlike that movie, made in a war period in Balkans, my book has a key of surrealism and mild humour, and is more open to the hope.
Ulysses is a symbol for the journey of discovery and adventure, and for coming back to the home against too many adversities.
My photography project was born to show in images as a modern Ulysses meets the life, the memories, and the new integrations and innovations in Leros Island: here live together, for more or less time, Greeks and people from Africa, Eastern Europe, Northern Europe, South Europe.
Ulysses in Leros island, that someone calls "glue" because many Italians and many Scandinavians come back every year and settle down.
But glue also because bond of peoples and languages, because it aggregates people in a spontaneous and unusual manner, both in leisure and work.
As in the Anghelopoulos’mind, my book is an invitation to the human integration against the war. Leros is therefore our Europe, our world.
