About the Ebook
The monuments of Gettysburg are more than statements by the old veterans that "we were here." They also tell stories. They show us how the soldiers fought, they show where they fought, they tell us stories of heroism, they tell sentimental stories. This book uses the monuments to tell the story of the Battle of Gettysburg. It also contains a section on battlefield preservation. It contains more than 500 photos, taken by the author or members of his family.

About the Creator
Leon Reed
Gettsburg, PA
I worked for 30 years as a defense consultant and military historian before taking early retirement and becoming a high school history and ESOL teacher. I then retired from that job in 2015 and moved to Gettysburg, where I write and take photographs for the "Civil War News" and volunteer at the national park. I started traveling to historic sites with my parents when I was 3 and I've been taking photos of my travels since I was 8 years old. I've been a part-time freelance photographer (mainly sports) for 20 years and coached soccer teams for 20 years.
