About the Book
Jeffrey Moser presents this fictional history of a south-eastern Pennsylvanian urban legend. Located less than a mile from the Delaware border, Cossart road is notorious for its misshapen trees, supernatural security vehicles, and a secluded well-guarded “Cult House” also known as “Satanville”. Believing this legend to be a hoax, Jeffrey traces the early history of the road through the work of a Philadelphia portrait photographer who has been driven from the city during the 1918 influenza epidemic. Pieced together from entries in his journal and his collection of glass plate negatives, this exhibition presents the urban legend as a post-Edwardian tragedy, now long forgotten.
