I have always loved photography. My first camera was borrowed from my parents - a simple Kodak 110. Despite its limitations it was a wonderful way to learn composition light focus and depth of field.

As my interest grew I experimented with different cameras lenses film formats and film stocks. Along the way I discovered the richness and subtlety of black and white photography and it became my favorite medium.

Today I still try to have a camera with me whenever possible because the best photographs often appear when least expected. Black and white can be gritty bold and dramatic or quiet soft and ethereal.

My ongoing BLACK AND LIGHT series brings together photographs made over many years and now includes Volumes I through V along with the original Standard and Special Editions. The books explore landscapes travel people places objects and everyday moments through black and white photography. Volume V explores the farms people and towns of Lancaster County PA. The journey continues.
