Donna Ames, MD, is Professor in Residence Emerita at the University of California, Los Angeles. She served military Veterans and their families and taught medical students as well as trainees in nursing, social work, and psychology.
She conducted nationally funded research for over 30 years at the Veterans Healthcare Administration Center in Los Angeles and at UCLA. Her expertise is in the treatment of serious mental illness, recovery, and rehabilitation. She was also involved in pioneering work in the treatment of moral injury and PTSD. Over the course of her career, she developed and implemented a bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach to the treatment of mental illness. She has over 100 scholarly publications in her field.
In addition to her career, Dr. Ames is a wife, mom, daughter, sister, aunt, grandma, and — most importantly — a child of God.
